Does my business involve high-risk activities?

Certain business types are classified as high-risk under our compliance standards. If your business is involved in any of the activities listed in this article, it is important that you disclose this to our team before or during your KYB application.

High-risk activities

The following activities are considered high-risk. They are divided into two categories — activities that cannot be onboarded under any circumstances, and activities that may be considered subject to additional review.

Activities that are not permitted on Kosh

Businesses involved in any of the following will not be onboarded:

Category

Examples

Illegal or harmful activity

Unlawful activity, fraud, unfair or predatory practices, counterfeit or unauthorised goods

Gambling and games of chance

Gambling, lotteries, sweepstakes, unlawful prediction markets

Weapons and regulated goods

Weapons, precious metals, jewellery, watches, luxury goods

Controlled substances

Cannabis and cannabis-related products, pharmaceuticals, tobacco, substances designed to mimic illegal drugs

Adult and sensitive content

Adult content and services, multi-level marketing

Financial services to third parties

Digital asset exchange services, money services, money transmission services, investment or credit services — where these are being provided by your business to third parties via Kosh

Other restricted activities

Bail bonds, collections agencies, safe deposit box rentals, mixing services, intellectual property infringement

Any business that our compliance team or partners determine poses elevated financial, legal, or regulatory risk may also not be permitted, even if not explicitly listed above.

Activities that may be considered — subject to enhanced review

The following business types may be onboarded at the discretion of our KYB team. If your business falls into any of these categories, additional documents and information will be required before a decision can be made:

  • Money services — including remittances, check cashing, gift cards, or ATM operations

  • Lending or banking services

  • Foreign exchange, virtual currency brokerage, or OTC trading

  • Holding client funds — including escrow services

  • Third-party payment processing

Disclosure of these activities does not guarantee approval. Our compliance team will assess each case individually and may request further documentation before reaching a decision.
