A Foreign Inward Remittance Certificate (FIRC) is an official document that proves funds were received from outside India. It is commonly required for tax filing, freelance income documentation, and compliance purposes.
Who can get a FIRC through Kosh?
Scenario | FIRC supported |
Individual in India receiving funds from outside India | ✅ |
Indian business receiving funds into its own bank account | ❌ |
Non-Indian business paying Indian employees or vendors | ✅ |
Indian business paying employees or vendors within India | ❌ |
Why Indian businesses and domestic payments don't qualify
FIRC applies only to foreign inward remittances. If both the sender and receiver are in India, the transaction is a domestic INR settlement and does not qualify as a foreign remittance.
Important note for Indian individuals
FIRC support for Indian individuals is currently available but may be paused at any time depending on banking partnerships or regulatory requirements. Purpose code support is coming soon.
For Indian freelancers and employees receiving crypto income
If you receive salary or freelance payments in crypto while based in India, ask your company to onboard with Kosh for compliant payouts. Kosh supports USDC to INR salary payments including FIRC issuance where applicable.
